Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us. ~ Romans 5:1-5
This is Paul at his best.
Who is God? The one who is glorious. The one who is the ground of everything. Who offers peace.
Who is Christ? The one through whom peace and grace come.
Who is the Holy Spirit? The one who pours out God's love into our hearts.
Paul is not defining the Trinity here, but instead giving as succinct and clear picture of God's activity as you'll find using all three persons of the Trinity by name.
Telling us how God's peace, and love, and grace work. What they look like.
What we can expect from them.
Even when things are hard, that peace and love and grace are still ours. Ours through Christ. Ours that the Holy Spirit pours out into us.
Thanks be to God!
Pour out your love O God and help me to share your grace and peace. Amen
