So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter. ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:15

Dear Paul, or whomever wrote this letter,
I'm not sure all traditions need to be held onto. Maybe even not all of yours.
Maybe even not all of Martin Luther's.
And yet...
There are traditions that we should never let go of: the tradition to love our neighbor as ourself.
The tradition to learn and to grow in our faith - and yes, that sometimes means listening to you and Martin Luther.
The tradition of serving our communities.
The tradition of prayer and meditation.
The tradition of worshiping God - even if that worship doesn't use the style I prefer or let me sing the songs I like or happen at my favorite time period.
Then tradition of following Jesus and being his disciple.
Are those the traditions you meant, Paul? If so, then I ask God to help and guide me!
Amen
