And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight to help you to determine what is best, so that in the day of Christ you may be pure and blameless, having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God. ~ Philippians 1:9-11
One of our images for our Advent series this year is a door.
What does that door open to? Hope, yes.
And this week, peace.
And how is peace attained?
Is it simply not arguing or fighting with others?
Is it an inner state of calm?
Or is it full insight from God, and Paul's notion of a harvest of righteousness?
A harvest! Can you picture that?
Not simply sharing peace with each other, but bountifully sharing. Having peace overflowing.
Having love overflowing.
Not just for some, but for all.
Love and peace go hand in hand. You really can't have one without the other.
So let peace come - overflowing and abundant.
Share that peace abundantly. When that door opens, ushering in those who know no peace, invite them to the table and make room for them to know God's overflowing peace as well.
Generous and gracious God, open the doors of our hearts to peace so that we can make a place at the table for those who are usually left out. Amen
