Housing the Holy: A Room with a View (Love)

His mercy is for those who fear him

from generation to generation.

He has shown strength with his arm;

he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. ~ Luke 1:50-51

CS Lewis said that a proud person is always looking down on things and people; and that as long as one is looking down, they cannot see something that is above.

I'd also say that it you are looking down on things and people, you aren't looking in front of you with eyes of love.

Love doesn't look down.

But love came down.

Love isn't stationary. It gets messy. It gets busy. It gets active.

It doesn't see difference. Instead, it sees possibility.

It unclenches. It opens.

It doesn't put down. It lifts.

It is merciful even when mercy isn't deserved.

Love sees. Truly sees. Sees who a person is underneath all the armor we put on ourselves.

Mary saw. Mary knew. Mary was ready for love to come down and be seen.

Love come down! Amen
