Housing the Holy: How Much is Enough? (Joy)

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation.

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And you will say in that day:

Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted.

Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. Shout aloud and sing for joy, O royal Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel. ~ Isaiah 12:2-6

What has been generously given to you that gave you joy?

Something unexpected. Unearned. Maybe even undeserved.

And yet freely given.

And not just given once, but given over and over again.

You know you can draw from the well spring of that generosity not once, but many, many times.

What does that gratitude feel like?

How do you react to it?

Does it make you want to sing for joy?

Does it make you want to share that joy with another?

That generosity is ours. Over and over again the well spring of salvation is ours for the taking. We don't earn it. We probably don't deserve it.

But it is ours, again and again.

Ours. And theirs.

Look around. That well spring belongs to each person you see. As well as the ones you don't.

Generous and gracious God, open up the doors of joy and teach us to share it far and wide. Amen
