Housing the Holy: Making Room (Hope)

Show me your ways, Lord,

teach me your paths.

Guide me in your truth and teach me,

for you are God my Savior,

and my hope is in you all day long. ~ Psalm 25:4-5 (NIV translation)

What are our places that house the holy?

And what do we need to do to make room in them for hope to blossom - for the holy to have room to move around?

We think of our churches as houses of the holy, but what is it that makes them that way? Is it God's presence? Well, God is present in lots of places.

Is it that it houses God's holy people?

Or is that it is a place where the holy is intentionally made room for?

Is it that it is a place where we learn God's ways and see the paths God creates toward holiness?

Maybe it the place where we learn hope. Where, when hope seems out of reach, we know with certainty, that a thread can be found to lead us back to hope's door.

Generous and gracious God, open the doors of our hearts to make room for your Spirit of hope to bloom in our lives. Amen
