(Jesus said) “For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good; but if salt has lost its saltiness, how can you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” ~ Mark 9:49-50
If I were stranded on a desert island and was only allowed one snack, more than likely I'd choose something salty over something sweet.
I love salt and quite honestly, Jesus, I can't imagine salt losing its saltiness!
But I get the point.
Because since I've been salted, that means that one would expect a certain flavor from me; a certain way of being. Since I've been gifted, one would expect me to use those gifts.
Salt is a preservative as well as being something that adds flavor. It made possible the preserving of foods in conditions without refrigeration.
Take that salt away, and something can go bad.
It's a good image, salt. When we are being salty for God, we are energized, "flavorful," and full of love.
When we are being salty for God, we are useful and helpful and full of life.
So, go and be salty for God!
Dear God, help me to add your flavor to all that I do. Amen
