He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation, for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers—all things have been created through him and for him. He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might come to have first place in everything. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross. ~ Colossians 1:15-20

This beautiful praise poem from Colossians, we get as good a definition of "Christ" as you are going to get in scripture. Christ, that is, who became Jesus. But Christ who is and who always was even before Jesus.
Who Christ is. What Christ does.
The image of God. Making seen that which is not seeable.
First born of all creation, but also integral to creation itself.
It's hard to describe, isn't it? When someone asks you who the Christ is. Much easier to talk about Jesus. We love Jesus, we love the man, and all that he came to earth to do.
But it is the Christ who has set us free through Jesus. The Christ of God, made man. The infinite made finite.
The very expression of God. Image of God's own being.
The one who made Jesus known to us.
Holy One, you have made yourself known to us through Jesus the Christ. Thank you! Help us to keep the love of that same Christ in our hearts always. Amen
