The Light Comes into the World

I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness. ~ John 12:46

Do you get stuck in the dark sometimes?

I know that some of the times in my life when sorrow or pain or suffering engulfed me, it felt like I just got stuck there. Sometimes it felt as if inertia was keeping me there.

I won't say I reveled in it, but maybe I got a little bit too accustomed - to the point where I didn't even look for the pathway out.

It was as if I didn't believe I could get out of it.

I don't think it is simply a matter of intellectual belief in the person and divinity of Jesus Christ that saves us: that keeps us from the darkness.

I think it is believing that that God doesn't want us stuck in darkness.

That Jesus comes to show us the way out of the darkness.

That Jesus wants to get us unstuck from the darkness we might still be clinging to.

Question for thought: Was there ever a time in your life when you got stuck in a dark place in your life - to the point that you avoided or pushed away any help or hope that came your way?

Come, O Holy One, for we wait upon you. And light the darkness of our hearts and lives so that we may know your love fully. Amen
